The opening of the motorway between Sevilla and the International bridge over the Guadiana marked the culmination of Ayamonte´s communications. The town can be reached from the last two exits from the mortorway. Sevilla airport is about 60 minutes away and to the east, the Portuguese motorway Infante do Sagres takes us to Faro airport in 30 minutes. Ayamonte´s excellent strategic location makes it, therefore, the starting and finishing point of all the destinations you could dream of.

Today Ayamonte is a first-class tourist destination. This is reflected in the number of luxury hotels built in the area over recent years. Accomodation facilities, once limited to the Parador Nacional de Turismo, have now increased susbtantially as a result. We must mention the 4-star hotels Riu Canela, Riu Atlántico, Playa Canela and Iberostar. The last hotel to be opened was the luxury 5-star hotel AC – Quinta Canela. Particularly noteworthy are the hotels in the neighbouring town of Isla Cristina, such as the 5-star luxury hotel Isla Cristina Palace, and the 4-star hotels Confortel, Oasis and Islantilla Golf and a long list of projects soon to be completed, all of which, together with the offer of the Portuguese Algarve, make this area one of the most appealing tourist destinations of today.
